At Tirumala - you need to follow the Q system - in every step and at every stage
- It has been designed to feciliate a systematic process of movement to avoid
Untoward incidents when the rush is in increasing levels.
As these Q system starts the moment you get down from either the car, bus, plane
or train. it is always better if you purchase the return journey tickets to
Tirumala or if possible travel by direct bus to Tirumala from your place.
Conatct the concerned TTD office - if you are performing any special Seva.
Never estimate that you can have seva, darshan and everything in one day - give
allowence for the unexpected rush - so spare minimum 3 days for a visit of
Tirumala.
In the last one or two years the rush has increased without any particular
timings or particular festival days. Its 365 days rush - unprecedented
rush is when the darshan takes more than 60 hours!
Particularly the days immediately following the holidays and festivals are
summer holidays are best days to have a darshan. Avoid a week prior to New Year
day like Ugadi and First of January. Taking advantage of any leave or holiday
and then visiting Tirumala is not possible. Assume that - like you there
are many people from many states - plan the trip - and that will bring the
unexpected crowds.
So far the accommodation is concerned - a list of mutts and dharmasalas are
given in the STAY page with telephone numbers and address.
Most of the TTD managed accommodation is furnished and there are many guest
houses with excellent amenities. It's always better to contact the TTD
Executive Officer or Assistant Executive Officer well in advance when you are
making a trip with your family and friends.
The T.T.D. is having 4 major function halls with modern cooking facilities; and
another 3 more are coming up shortly.

Walking up the Hills!
As you may be aware, there is a real rush and demand for the "walking up the
Hills" rather than going by any vehicle. Whether you have a vow or not, but as
the darshan is taking only few minutes - by walking they would like to obtain
the blessings of the Sri Venkateswara.
The authorities made some excellent arrangements particularly for the people who
wish to go by walk to the Tirumala.
They transportation their luggage free of charge to Tirumala.
So that you can deposit your luggage at any of the choultries in Tirupati, or
at the toll gate at Alipiri, against a token and take delivery of the luggage
at the central reception office counter at Tirumala. ( don't try to
bypass the system and get into the hands of touts and con men)
You can cook your food in some designated places on the way to the hills - route
of walking and there are sufficient drinking facilities all along the
route. The route is duly illuminated and guarded by the security people -
day and night.
ISKCON has
established a facility of canteen on the way to the hills
Arrangements are there for toilets and for resting places where the religious
programmes are being broadcasting for 24 hours .
Provision of sunshade at important points for taking rest.

PRECAUTIONS & TRADITIONS
Book your travel and accommodation - if you are coming with family / children.
Aged people / coming from far-off places.
Respect the place, traditions - being a Hindu - it is our duty to maintain the
ambience of the place - as Tirumala is being regarded as most famous,
wealthiest and attracting different religions off late.
Remember that you are here to visit the temple, not for a fashion show or picnic
- maintain that and everything will go as per plan.
There are incidents - people may care less about it, thinking that they are all
stories - but even today if you touch some pilgrims - they will tell actual
incidents which they experienced and that has made them to visit the Hills over
and over again - irrespective of the difficulties involved.
This is not the place for honeymoon - well the newly married couple need to have
the darshan - but move over to Bangalore or Chennai for the next item.

Better go for authenticated / approved / established organizations - instead of
going to every one on the road and asking for details and information - you
will be in problems and you will blame the administration.
Having come, traveled much distance, spending money - stand in the Dharma
Darshan - and have the darshan - that way - you are not exposing or advertising
your superiority at the feet of the most Superior.
May be Darshan is for seconds or minutes - but then you have seen the God and
experienced him - while standing in Q, walking up the hills and waiting at
Halls.
