Add the God Principle in your daily lives
The source of this inspiring story from India is

shrouded in antiquity. Origins unknown.

One rich man owned 19 horses when he died. In his last will and testament he had written that upon his death, half the horses he owned should go to his only son; one fourth to the village temple and one fifth to the faithful servant.

The village elders could not stop scratching their heads. How can they give half of the 19 horses to the son? You cannot cut up a horse. They puzzled over this dilemma for more than two weeks and then decided to send for a wise man who was living in a neighboring village.

The wise man came riding on his horse and asked the villagers if he can be of any help to them. The village elders told him about the rich man's last will and testament which stated that half of the (19) horses must be given to his only son, one fourth must go to the temple and one fifth to the faithful servant.

The wise man said he will immediately solve their problem without any delay whatsoever. He had the 19 horses placed in a row standing next to one another. Then he added his own horse as the 20th horse. Now he went about giving half of the 20 horses - that is ten horses to the son. One fourth of 20- that is 5 horses were given to the temple committee. One fifth of twenty- that is 4 horses were given to the faithful servant. Ten plus five plus four made 19 horses. The remaining 20th horse was his own which he promptly mounted, spoke a few inspiring words, and rode back home.
The villagers were simply dumfounded, full of disbelief and filled with admiration. And the parting words of the wise man were inscribed in their hearts and minds which they greatly cherished and passed on to their succeeding generations till today.

The wise man said: In our daily lives, in our daily affairs, simply add God's name and then go about facing the day's happenings. Ever come across problems in life that are seemingly insurmountable? (Like the villagers, do we feel that such problems cannot be solved?).

The wise man continued: Add the God Principle in our daily lives and the problems will become lighter and eventually will disappear. In the manner of the ice which, with the addition of the heat principle will turn into water and that will eventually evaporate as steam and disappear. And how do we add God's name (God principle) in our daily lives? The prayers, filled with true love and devotion with sincerity of purpose and dedication that only total faith can bring about. Meditation is a powerful means of directing the mind God-ward.

But without true love and devotion entering into it, it remains like a boat without water. It is not difficult to push a boat that is floating in water, but extremely hard to drag the same boat on dry land. In the same way, if our life's boat floats on the waters of true love and devotion, we can sail easily in it. The principle of love of God and devotion with total faith, (like water) makes easy the voyage of our lives. When the mind is pure and the heart full of simplicity and holiness, such a devotee becomes an instrument in the service of the Lord.

What is Depression! (scroll below)
How depression comes into being!

What is Depression!

What is depression?
In my opinion depression is the result of our own over anxiety. We plan some thing, and on which we invest our money, time, skills and extra efforts and then we anticipate and expect positive results.  We wait for the results to come. That is it! This waiting period is the one which actually works on us as poison.  Well, while waiting you will think about the results, particularly the positive results. Based on that the mind starts working over time and so you will gradually increase the magnitude of positive aspects which you anticipate and naturally your estimates will take a leap and cross the limit of common sense. The relative graph is such that to an extent the graph moves up taking the hope along with it and when the time is dragging beyond certain limits, the graph starts rolling down as the insecurity which starts at the brink develops gradually so the graph starts falling down to touch the base line where the depression would at its peak!

If you look at the specific cases, in each and every case - the cause differs, situation differs, environment differs and the person who feels depressed differs. May be your situation is awful so far as your circumstances are concerned. Frankly, I too sometime experienced the same kind of situation - may be the level of going down may vary. Particularly when you feel restless, unable to change the situation and when you feel totally inactive in every aspect - the depression levels will increase in a volatile manner.
Let's think and analyze the situation - as there is nothing we can do to change the situation - to know how the whole episode has started.

How depression comes into being!

As I said earlier in the introduction, the depression is not connected to any part of your body and no way related to your brain cells or blood count. I can also assure you that you need not worry about your mindset or the health of your mind - apart from the other symptoms you may feel which are actually attachments of the depression. Looking at the so called problem in magnifying glasses is the real cause for the depression.  So take away those magnifying glasses and throw them away.  You did it!  Well.  The size of your problem has come down.  In fact you can see the issue in its real size.  Magnifying glasses are can be your vision or your mind or mostly your inclination to look at the ISSUE only! You don't want to look at other things and in the process you will ignore even the solutions - however may be small.  Solutions are solutions!

For every problem there are several solutions inside moving around to be opened. Well, your case is different! I agree with you - and I am with you, but I only ask you instead of looking at the issue alone (let us call it issue instead of problem) start looking at the surrounding area also. There are friends, family, family relatives, close associates, colleagues and boss as well as those who were benefited from you in the earlier days and those who adore you in far off places.  Concentrating on the issue alone makes the problem tougher, dangerous and hard to crack. And inability to apply reason for the issue is one aspect where the depressed person gives-in to the artificial pressure of the situation.  When Arjuna saw their relatives, teachers, friends and many other close people - he got suddenly depressed about the result of the war.  He was not thinking that so many people - most of them relatives - would participate in the war. He was not prepared to the full scale war where his part was most important.  In those circumstances when he has seen the actual situation - he got stunned, shocked and surprised - and made calculations in his mind and concluded that he should never take a part in that war.  Bhagwan Sri Krishna has to come and explain the logic, modalities and more appropriately his small part in the whole drama.

You might have heard about a mathematical quiz - that the teacher has drawn a line with a chalk on the black board and asked the students to make it small - without erasing the line. And he kept the chalk on the near by table.  After a considerable time and discussions among them, one student got up and took the chalk and drawn another line bigger than that line. This is the only solution for any problem - particularly when the issue is not to be erased or deleted.

You think that you did everything right, you feel that you were absolutely correct in your approach, you argue within yourself that what you did was appropriate and above the board. You have reached an opinion about you.  You forget about reaching an opinion on others!  Why not?  Why you have not thought about others, their right, their approach, their actions in the given circumstances and their right to do the right thing?
