PRE-NATAL CEREMONIES
GARBHADHANA (consummation)
This is celebrated from the day of menses, in the
6th, 8th, 10th, 12th, 14th or 16th day for the birth of the son, or in the 5th,
7th, 9th, 11th, 13th or 15th day for the birth of daughter. The following are
elected for an auspicious mahurtha.
TITHI - 2, 3, 5, 7, 10, 12, 13 (B)
WEEKDAY - Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday.
ASTERISMS - Uttara, uttarashada, uttarabhadra, mrigasira, dhanishtta, hasta, anuradha, rohini, swathi, sravana, satabhisha. The asterisms of secondary importance are aswini, chitra, punarvasu & pushyami. The remaining 12 asterisms should be rejected.
LAGNA - The odd signs for those who wish for sons & even signs for those who wish for daughter may be chosen.
It would be better to reject the 8th lagna of ones birth sign or birth lagna. The birth asterism of the bride & bridegroom are disfavored. The vyathipatha, mahapatha, the 1st half of paright the day before the death anniversary of parents, pradosha etc.

PLANETARY POSITION:
1. The malefic planets viz. sun, mars, Saturn,
rahu/ketu should be in the places 3, 6, 11.
2. The benefic planets viz. mercury, Venus, Jupiter & the waxing moon
should be in 1, 4, 5, 7, 9, and 10.
3. The lagna may be aspected by the masculine planets, viz. sun, mars &
Jupiter.
4. The moon is preferred in the odd sign or odd navamsa.
5. The birth of a daughter is probable, if the moon Venus aspects the lagna.
6. The prime importance is given to Jupiter's occupancy of lagna, 5th or 9th.

The planets in the benefic places, as shown in the
table, attain the respective vimsopakas & the planets in the malefic places
with their respective vimsopakas. The planets in the neutral places neither
gain nor lose their vimsopakas. The muhurtha is mediocre if it secures 5 to 10
& good from 10 to 15 & excellent from 15 to 20.

PUMSAVANA
This function is performed in the 3rd month of
pregnancy.
TITHI: 1(D), 2, 3, 5, 7, 10, 11, 13, (B)
WEEKDAY: Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday.
ASTERISM: Hasta, chitra, rohini, sravana, dhanishtta, satabhisha,
pushyami, uttara, uttarashada, uttarabhadra, anuradha, revati, moola,
aswani, mrigasira. The rest are to be discarded.
LAGNA: Mesha, dhanus & meena are good. Simha, vrischika & makara
are disfavored. The rest are mediocre.
SEEMANTHA
This may be performed in the 4th, 6th, or 8th month
of pregnancy. The tithi, weekday, asterism and lagna mentioned for pumsavana
hold good for seemantha too. The 5th, 8th, & 12th, of lagna should not be
occupied by the maleffics, viz. the waning moon, sun, mars, Saturn, rahu, &
ketu. The lagna should not be occupied by the moon. The 8th house should lie
vacant. For marriage, garbhadhana, pumsavana & seemantha, the chandrabala
is a must for the women; this should be performed in the forenoon.

POST-NATAL CEREMONIES
SOOTHIKA SNANA (Bath after delivery)
The mother should take her first bath after the
delivery of child on Sunday, Tuesday or Thursday. The favorable asterisms are
aswini, rohini, mrigasira, uttara, uttarashada, uttarabhadra, hasta, swati,
anuradha, revati. The 4th, 6th, 8th, 9th, 12th & 14th tithis are evil.
NAMAKARANA (Name Ceremony)
This could be performed in the 10th, 11th, 12th,
16th, 20th & 21st, 22nd, 27th day of the child's birth. The name of the
child should begin with the letter indicated by the pada of the birth-asterism.
The date connected to the birth -month (lunar) could be either fixed to the
male child. The names connected to the lunar months are given below-

This should be performed in the 12th day for male
child, for female child it should be done in the 13th day. In either case one
needn't seek for a muhurtha. In other days after, in the 1st, 3rd or 5th month,
a good muhurtha should be sought.

ASTERISM - Hasta, chitra, swati, sravana, revati, punarvasu, aswini, rohini, uttara, uttarashade, uttarabhadra.
LAGNA - Subhalagnas (2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 9, 12)
The 8th house should be vacant. Mars in lagna is
best preferred. The 1st 5 asterisms from the sun's asterism to the moon's
asterism are good. The last 5 asterism from the Sun's asterism to the moon
asterism are good.

ANNAPRASANA (first feeding on rice)
This should be done in the 6th, 8th, 10th, 12th
month for the male child, in the 7th, 9th, or 11th month for the female child.
This should be done in the forenoon.
TITHI - Avoid rikta and nanda tithis, 8th, 12th,
& amavasya.
WEEKDAY - Avoid Sunday, Tuesday & Saturday.
ASTERISM - Aswini, Hasta, chitra, swati, sravana, revati, punarvasu,
mrigasira, pushyami, anuradha, dhanishtta, satabhisha, rohini, uttara,
uttarashade, uttarabhadra.
Birth asterism is also favored. Avoid vedha nakshatra by sapta salaka &
aridra, krittika, jyeshtta, bharani, aslesha, poorvashada & poorvabhadra.
LAGNA - Avoid mesha, vrischika & meena. The 10th house of lagna should
lie vacant. Guru Moudyam & sukra moudyam is no bar for annaprasana
muhurtha. Prefer the tithi in suklapaksha (bright fore night).

KESAKHANDANA
The 1st hair cutting of the male child should be
done in the 4th, 6th, 8th, 10th or 12th month of the Childs birth. For female
child it should be done in 3rd, 5th, 7th, 11th, months. This should be done in
the forenoon.
TITHI - 5th, 10th, 15th (poornima) are
commended. 2, 3, 7, 13 are also allowed.
WEEKDAY - Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday.
ASTERISM - Aswini, swati, sravana, revati, punarvasu, mrigasira,
dhanishtta, satabhisha are good.
CHOWLAM (Tonsure)
Chowlam or chudakarma should be performed in the
child's 3rd year or 5th year. It should nor be performed when the child's month
is after 5 months pregnant. It should be done in uttarayana. The lunar month of
chaitra (when the sun is in meena) should be prohibited. Vaisakha, jyeshtta,
ashada (before 11th lunar day of the bright fortnight) magha, phalguna, months
are preferred. Only the sukla paksha or bright fortnight is commended. Jyeshtta
month is prohibited for the chowlam of the eldest child. Some hold the opinion
that the month of margasira also should be avoided for the eldest child.
The chudakarma (tonsure) is not blemished, if it is
done along with upanayanam.

WEEKDAY - Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Sunday for Brahmins,
Tuesday for kshatriyas & Saturday for visyas & sudras are specially
recommended.
ASTERISM - Aswini, Hasta, chitra, swati, sravana, revati, punarvasu, mrigasira,
pushyami, anuradha, dhanishtta, satabhisha, rohini, uttara, uttarashade,
uttarabhadra, jyeshtta.
LAGNA - Vrishabha, Kataka, Kanya, Tula, Dhanus, Meena and Mithuna. This should
not fall in the 8th form janma lagna or janma rasi of the child.
For chowlam, tarabala of the child is a must. The
chowlam should be done in the forenoon.
KARNAVEDHA (Ear-bore)
This should be done in the 12th or 16th day, or in
the 6th, 7th, or 8th, month of the child's birth. It could be performed in the
3rd or 5th year of the child.
TITHI - 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 10, 12, 13 of
suklapaksha.
WEEKDAY - Never do karnavedha on Sunday, Tuesday and Saturday.
ASTERISM - Sravana, Dhanishtta, Punarvasu & mridu &
laghuasterisms.
LAGNA - Vrishaba, Tula, mithuna, dhanus and meena are good. Kanya, kataka,
mesha and mediocre. Kumbha, vrischika and simha are evil.
Karnavedha should be done in the lunar months of
kartika, margasira, magha, phaguna, chaitra (when sun is not in meena) are
good. Jupiter in lagna is excellent. Benefices should occupy 457910 and the
malefic should occupy 3611. The 8th house should be unoccupied by the planets.
The birth month of the child is disallowed for
karnavedha. It should not be done in tithi - vriddhi and tithi kshaya.
Janmatara is not allowed. Karnavedha should not be done in the night.

AKSHARABHYASA (Learning of alphabet)
The commencement of alphabet learning of the child
should be done in the 5th day of the 5th month of the 5th year. It should be
done in the uttarayana. Kumbha masa should be avoided. It should be done in the
forenoon or in the noon. The moudyam of Jupiter & Venus should be avoided.
TITHI - 2, 3, 5, 6, 10, 11, 12
WEEKDAY - Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday.
ASTERISM - Aswini, Hasta, chitra, swati, sravana, revati, Mithuna,
punarvasu, pushyami, anuradha.
LAGNA - Mesha, Kataka, Tula and makara are commended. Midhuna, kanya and Meena
are mediocre.
The 8th house should lie vacant. Mercury, Venus or
Jupiter in 9th house is par excellence. The malefic in 3,6,11 and the benefices
in the Kendras and konas are favored.
UPANAYANA (Investiture of sacred thread)
Upanayana should be performed in the 8th year for a
Brahmin boy, in 11th year for a Kshatriya boy in 12th year for Vaisya boy. This
is the normal period for upanayana. For any reason if it is not done in the
normal period for upanayana. For any reason if it is not done in the normal
period it is permissible till 16 years for a Brahmin boy, till 22 years for a
Kshatriya boy, till 24 years for a vaishya boy. Beyond this it is the
kalatikramana dosha or the time transgressed period. The optional period for
attaining the supreme splendour, is 5 years for a Brahmin boy, 6 years for a
Kshatriya boy, 8 years for a Vaisya boy.
1. The lunar months allowed for upanayana are
chaitra, visakha, jyeshtta, magha and phalguna. For the upanayana of the eldest
born, jyeshtta month is disallowed. For the upanayana of the Kshatriya and
Vaisya boys, ashada is permitted.
2. If the upanayana is performed in the 8th year of
the boy in the spring season, his birth month, tithi or asterism does not bear
any evil (c).
3. The upanayana performed in the chaitra, when the
sun is in meena, is highly commended.
4. The birth month of the boy, whether in the
normal period, time Trans gressed period or in the optional period is not
favored for performing the upanayana. But it is permitted leaving the first 10
days in the birth month (Rajamarthand).
5. The birth fortnight in the birth month is evil.
So, the upanayana is permitted in the other fortnight (nirnaya sindhu).
6. The birth month, birth accident, birth asterism,
birth tithi and no evil for the 1st born Brahmin boy and for others save eldest
in the case of kshatriyas and vaisyas (muhurtha chintamani).
7. The meena chaitra is exceptionally good for
upanayana, capable of mitigating the gochara evil and the evil weak
Jupiter (Ratnakosa).
The upanayana should be performed in the forenoon
only but never in the afternoon.
PAKSHA - Sukla paksha is good. Krishna paksha
is allowed till the 5th lunar day.
Tithi1 (D), 2, 3, 5, 7, 10, 11, 13 are good.6th and 12th are mediocre. Chaitra
suddha tadiya (3rd), maghasuddha saptami (7th) and phalguna bahula tadiya (3rd)
are best preferred for upanayana (purushardha chintamani)
WEEKDAY - Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday.

SWEARING-IN-CEREMONY (Rajyabhisheka)
For any reason, if this is emergent, the muhurtha,
needn't, to be sought for. But, generally this ceremony should be performed
following the norms of muhurtha for the safety and success of the government,
of the state or country.
MONTH: The uttarayana is preferred, in the lunar months except chaitra. The
intercalary and the suppressed months should be avoided. It should be performed
when Jupiter is in simha and makara. The riktha tithes should be avoided.
Tuesday is inauspicious, for the ministers, governors etc. but are auspicious
for the army - chiefs to swear in. The ceremony should not be performed in the
night. Saturday is mediocre. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday are preferred.
Sunday with good tithi is most preferred.
ASTERISM: Rohini, mrigasira, pushyami, jyeshtta,
uttara, uttarashada, uttarabhadra, revati, aswini, hasta, chitra and sravana
should be the choice.
LAGNA: Vrishabha, mithuna, simha, Tula, vrischika
should be the choice. The 3rd, 6th, 10th, 11th signs of one's janma rasi or
janma lagna are preferred.
PLANETARY PLACEMENT: The malefic planets should
occupy the places 3, 6, 11. The benefic planets should occupy 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7,
9, 10, 11 places. The 8th and 12th should lie vacant. The planet in exaltation,
own house, friends house are preferred in more number.
The planets in the debilitation and in the inimical houses should be nil or
less in numbers. For the vimsopaka valuation, see the table below -
GOOD YOGAS 1) Jupiter in lagna or 5th, or 9th, mars
in 6th and Venus in 10th from yoga par excellence. 2) Saturn in 3rd sun in
11th, Jupiter in 10th or 4th form yoga par excellence for a full term of
successful government.

The 1st (D) 2, 3, 5, 6, 10, 11, 12 are good, 4, 8,
9, 14 amavasya and poornima should be avoided. Wednesday, Thursday & Friday
are good. Sunday and Monday are mediocre. Tuesday and Saturday should be
avoided. The movable and the dual lagnas should be the other one. Aswini,
mrigasira, aridra, punarvasu, pushyami, aslesha, chitra, swati, sravana,
dhanishtta and satabhisha are accepted. Learning mathematics, astronomy,
astrology. Wednesday and Thursday should be the choice. Satabhisha,
poorvabhadra, anuradha, ardra, revati, hasta and pushyami are good.
LEARNING OF GRAMMAR, LOGIC AND PHILOSOPHY
Wednesday, Thursday & Friday, aswini, hasta,
chitra, swati, visakha, anuradha, punarvasu, pushyami, mrigasira, aswini for
grammar, uttara, uttarabhadra, uttarashada, aswini, pushyami punarvasu,
sravana, hasta, aswini, satabhisha and swati for logic and hasta, chitra,
swati, vishaka, anuradha, pusyami, revati, mrigasira, sravana, dhanishtta and
satabhisha for puranas are commended.
MEDICINE AND MAGIC
Hasta, chitra, swati, anuradha, punarvasu, sravana,
dhanishatta, satabhisha, moola, revati, aswini, pushyami, jyeshtta, aslesha,
ardra and mrigasira are accepted for learning medicine. Except jyeshtta, the
rest of the above are accepted for learning magic. Sunday, Tuesday and Monday
are good.
DANCE AND MUSIC
Revati, anuradha, dhanishatta, satabhisha, hasta,
rohini, mrigasira, pushyami, uttara, uttarashada, uttarabhadra are good.
Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday are good. Mercury in lagna, aspect of
Jupiter to the lagna, and occupancy of the benefic planets in the 4th house are
preferred.
WRITING OF ARTICLES OR BOOKS
Tithis 2, 3, 5, 7, 10, 11, 13 and the weekday viz,
Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday are good. Revati, aswini, sravana,
anuradha, ardra, punarvau, pushyami, hasta, chitra and swati are excellent.
MANTRA DEEKSHA
The Vedic hymns are the mantras of three kinds. the
hymns that is metrical and intended to be loudly recited is the rik - mantra,
the hymns that is prose and muttered in a low tone is the yajur - mantra and
the hymn which is metrical and intended to set to music is the samamantra. A
boy after his upanayana at the age of 8 years is eligible to get initiated into
the Vedic hymns by his preceptor, in an anadhyaya day taking the choice of the
following.
TITHIS- 2, 3, 5, 10, 11, 12 of suklapaksha and 1,
2, 3, 4, 5 of krishnapaksha are good.
WEEKDAY - Thursday, Wednesday, Friday and Monday
are good.
ASTERISM - Rohini, uttara, uttarashada,
uttarabhadra, aswini, mrigasira, punarvasu, pushyani, hasta, chitra, swati,
anuradha, sravana, dhanishtta, stabhisha, revati are good.
LAGNA - Mithuna, kanya, dhanus, and meena are good.
As and when one's preceptor is pleased to offer
himself readily to initiate one into the mantra of any deity, one needn't worry
whether the muhurtha is good or evil. But one could preferably get initiated
into the mantra of the deity of his choice, according to the electional signs
given below-
LAGNA
Vrishabha, simha, kanya, dhanus and meena are good.
But generally the cardinal signs for Siva mantra, the fixed signs for Vishnu
mantra and the dual signs for sakti mantra are suggested.
PLANETARY PLACEMENT
The malefic planets in the houses 3, 6, 11 and the
benefic planets in 1, 4, 5, 7, 9, and 10 from the muhurtha lagna are favored
for mantra deeksha. The lagna occupied by mercury accepted by Jupiter, with the
full moon and Venus in the 4th is par excellence. The 8th house should lie
vacant.

3) CHOICE OF UNIVERSAL LAGNA
The lagna calculated to the time of solar ingress in mesha is called the universal lagna. Count from your janma lagna to the universal lagna. If the universal lagnas is the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th, 10th or 11th from your janma lagna, it is best preferred. The 4th, 6th, 8th and 12th are disfavored.
4) The day of solar ingress is good for mantra -
deeksha. The equinoctial & solstitial points in mesha, Tula, kataka and
makara are exceptionally good for the mantra - deeksha.
5) The time of the solar eclipse or the lunar
eclipse is highly commended for mantra deeksha. Any holy shrine or any holy
place or pilgrimage except Gaya is no bar for it. But the Vishnu mantra in the
lunar eclipse and the sakti mantra in the solar eclipse are disfavored. But no
such restriction need be followed for srimantra and gopal mantra.
6) The intercalary and the suppressed months should
be avoided. The ashada for srimantra and the chaitra for gopala mantra are
good. Those who desire wealth may choose the suklapaksha and those who yearn
for the mukti (the final emancipation of soul) may choose the krishnapaksha.
The tithes 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 10, 11, 12, 13, 15 (B) and 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 (D) are
good. The 4th for ganesha mantra and the 8th and 14th for sakti mantra are
commended. The chaitra suddha ashtami (asokasthami) and Sri Ramanavami are
auspicious for the mantra deeksha. The chaitra 3 (B) are lauded for the mantra
deeksha though they are the beginning tithi of tretayuga is also good for the
mantra deeksha.
7) ASTERISM
Rohini, uttarashada, uttarabhadra, aswini, mrigasira, punarvasu, pushyami,
hasta, chitra, swail, anuradha, jyeshtta, sravana, dhanishtta, satabhisha and
revati are good. Krittika is good for the agni-mantra, and aridra is good for
Siva mantra.

8) CHAKRA SUDDHI
From the sun's asterism, the 4th, 6th, 14th, 17th, 21st and 22nd asterisms of
the moon are favored for the mantra deeksha (muhurtha ganapati).
9) For the purascharana of the mantra, the lunar
months of krittika, aswiyuja, vaishakha, magha, margasira, phalguna and sravana
are good. The asterisms, tithis and the weekdays mentioned for the mantra
deeksha holds good for the purascharana of the mantra, the sravana poornima
(jandyala or raki) is unique for it. The eclipses are also good.
DEITY INSTALLATION
The uttarayana is preferred for installing. But for varaha, matruka, vamana and narasimha, the lunar months of chitra, visakha, jyeshtta, magha and phalguna are preferred. All the weekends are good except Tuesday, Saturday is unique. The tithi of 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 10, 11, 12, 13, and 15 of the sukla paksha are good. any deity can be installed in its own tithis like sriramanavami, Krishna janmashtami, vinayaka chaturdhi, sivaratri, durgashtami, maharnavami, anuradha, revati, punarvasu, rohini, mrigasira, sravana, dhanishtta, satabhisha, uttarayam, hasta, chitra, swati, pushyami are to be chosen. The intercalary and the suppressed months should be avoided. Gurumoudyam and sukramoudyam are not approved. The lagnas viz. vrishanha, mithuna, kanya, dhanus and meena are good. The rest are mediocre.
PLACEMENTS OF PLANETS
1. Jupiter, mercury and Venus are preferred in lagna.
2. The moon, mercury, Jupiter and Venus are preferred in the 2nd, 5th, 7th, 9th
and 10th.
3. The malefic or benefics should be in 3 and 11.
4. Mercury, Jupiter and Venus are good in the 4th.
5. The malefic should be in the 6th.
6. The 8th and 12th should be vacant.

DEITY OF VISHNU
The uttarayana is commended for installing the deity of Vishnu. The months of margasira are excellent for it. The month of magha is disallowed. The 5th (D) and 8th (D) the 5th, 11th, 12th, (B) and pournami are preferred. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday are good. Aswini, rohini, mrigasira, punarvasu, uttarayam, hasta, anuradha, jyeshtta, revati are commanded. Kanya lagna is highly commended for installing the deity of Vishnu.
DEITY OF KRISHNA
The above hold good for installing the deity Krishna. The month of margasersha is excellent for it. The Krishna janmashtami is unique for it. Mesha, mithuna, simha, Tula, dhanus may be the choice of lagnas.
DEITY OF SRI RAMA, PARASURAMA, BALARAMA
The good tithis of suklapahsha, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and the lagnas mentioned for Krishna hold good. The abhijit and sravana are excellent. Parasurama jayanti, Sri Ramanavami, vijayadasami are commended.
DEITY OF SIVALING
The weekdays, asterisms etc. mentioned for deity-installation hold good. but the month of aswiyuja for durga, the month of sravana for sivalinga and the month of margasira for Vishnu are excellent, the dakshinayana is commended for installing the deities of durga, varahi, bhairava etc. the 2nd, 3rd, 8th lunar days of aswiyuja are good for durga-installation. The asterism of moola is unique for it. The fixed lagnas should be preferred. Venus in lagna, Jupiter and moon in kendra-trikonas and mars in the 10th are commended.

DEITY OF THE SUN
Hasta is unique for it. Simha lagna is most preferred Sunday, saptamii, hasta and simha lagna form an excellent yoga for installing the deity of the sun.
DEITIES OF SKANDA AND GANESH
Anuradha is excellent for kartikeya. Revati is unique for ganesh.
DEITY OF HANUMAN

SEED-SOWING
Except sravana, satabhisha, punarvasu, visakha and jyeshtta, the asterisms mentioned for ploughing hold good in the case of seed-sowing. if the seeds are sown on Tuesday, rats destroy the sprouts, if sown on Saturday, locusts and other insects destroy the sprouts. Rikta tithis should be avoided. Vrishabha, meena, kanya and mithuna are good for sowing the seeds. According to kalamritam-

This item in muhurtha may appear to be kidding, but
it is not as naive as one supposes. Our ancient scholars have enjoyed certain
rules, for shaving and trimming hair, and this implies the importance and
consideration they gave for day to day affairs when it came to applying
astrology.
Job holders need not rigidly adhere to the
electional principles of shave. The rules do not apply to those who daily trim
their beard and nails. However good is expected if the following are adhered to
sravana, dhanishtta, satabhisha, hasta, chitra, swati, revati. Aswini.
Jyeshtta, mrigasira, uttarashada, punarvasu and pushyami are the 13 asterisms
for shave. Anuradha, uttara, krittaka, rohini and makha are the most evil
asterisms Saturday, Sunday and Tuesday is auspicious. But Sunday is good for
Brahmins, Tuesday is good for kshatriyas and Saturday is good for vaisyas and
sudras. Shave is strictly prohibited on chaturdasi and amavasya. Avoid
shave on the 9th day of every shave. The complete head shave is disallowed for
a persons whose parentsare alive. Every 5th is allowed for kshatriyas. Complete
shave is allowed for ascetics. A person should face the east at the time of his
shave. If by chance, the shave is done on evil day (tithi, asterism etc.)
The next shave should be as earlier as possible on an auspicious day.
The above principles are waived too on the
following occasions. yajna, marriage, period of death-defilement, the day when
the person is released from jail, the day of death of mantra-deeksha, the
death-anniversary of the parent, the day of nuptials etc. one should avoid
shave as far as possible on Sunday, Tuesday and Saturday. Rikta tithis and
pancha parvas should be avoided. Never trim your hair or beard of before you
make journey. You should avoid your trimming activities after your bath and
food. Never shave on the floor, without a seat. Shave is prohibited to the
person whose is pregnant. These principles are not necessary to the person when
he is blind-drunk.

Oil bath is allowed in marriage, on the New Year day and on festivals. The
tithis 1, 6, 8, 9, 11, 13 and 14 should be discarded. The full moon day and of
solar ingress should also be avoided. One should not even touch the oil bath on
amavasya.
Oil bath should bi taken on samvatsaradi, vasantotsava, deepavali and on
completion of birth defilement. One should take oil bath on vijayadasami,
Sunday, Tuesday, vyatipata, sankranthi, vaidhriti, bhadra and parva tithis
should be avoided. A person having progeny should not face the north while
taking bath and should not take it on Monday. A woman should never take oil
bath in satabhisha. A women should never take oil- bath on Monday in makha
asterism.
WEARING NEW CLOTHES
Hasta, chitra, swati, visakha, anuradha, dhanishtta and revati are good for
women, and foe men those asterism and pushyami, aswini, uttara, yttarashada and
uttarabhadra, punarvasu and rohini are good. Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday and
Friday are good. Never wash the new clothes on Saturday and Wednesday, Shasta,
amavasya on the day of sraddha.
EMPLOYING SERVANTS
Avoid Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday. Mtigasira, revati, anuradha, chitra,
uttara, uttarashada, uttarabhadra and rohini are good.

Saturday, Sunday and Wednesday are good. Chitra poorvashada, anuradha, aslesha,

For taking medicine, the movable the light and the soft asterisms and moola are
commended. Never begin taking the medicine in your janma nakshatra. Prefer the
dual lagans. The placements of Venus, moon, Jupiter or mercury is most
preferred. Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Friday are good. The 6th and 12th
house should lie vacant. Take medicine in the auspicious tithis. Never begin
taking medicine on Sunday and Tuesday. Surgical operation should be done on
Tuesday or Sunday, when the 8th house is vacant and the 6th house is occupied
by malefic, the sun and moon should be in the Kendra's.
If fever occurs in aswini, krittika, moola, the
patient's recovery is probable after 9 days. if it occurs in rohini ,
uttarabhadra punarvasu, pushyami, uttara, it lies for 7 days, if in makha, it
lies for 20 days.
FIRST BATH AFTER ILLNESS
After the recovery of long illness, one should not take bath in revati,
punarvasu, uttara, uttarashada, uttarabhadra, rohini, makha, swati, aslesha and
on Friday and Monday. Avoid the rikta tithis, Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday,
Thursday and Saturday. Cardinal Lagnas are good for bath when the moon also is
week and when the Kendra's, konas and the house are occupied by the malefic,
tarabala and chandrabala are necessary.

of the benefices. The 5th house not is occupied as aspected by the malefic.
SNEEZING EFFECT
Sneezing is caused by an uncontrollable outburst of air through the nose and
mouth. If one has the urge to sneeze and does not, it can be dangerous. If a
sneeze is heard when a typical Hindu marriage takes place, during the muhurtham
it is embarrassing because it is not considered a good omen. That is why the
nadaswaram is often played very loudly at the time of muhurtham so that the
sound of someone sneezing would be unheard. if a person sneezes while he starts
his journey or begins an important or auspicious work, it is not considered
good. The ominous and positive aspects of sneezing can be understood based on
the direction, the sneeze is heard, as follows-
1. Frontal direction - a futile journey
2. Right - a bleak future
3. Left - a safe journey
4. Back - a positive result

2. When you are riding a vehicle.
3. When there is some sort of dispute.

The sight of an auspicious object augurs good and
an inauspicious object, bad. As an example white and yellow are auspicious
while red and black inauspicious. So a white lotus will have a totally
different from a red lotus. The sight of human begins should be interpreted as
the personification of good or bad things accordingly. Embracing a neat woman
indicates unexpected gain of money whiling embracing a woman. No importance
need be given to the day-dreams signify nothing. Timings of events interpreted
may be experienced after 1 year. if it is in the 2nd prahar, the interpretation
holds good after 6 months. if the dream occurs in the 3rd prahar, the
interpretation may be seen in the 3 months and if in the 4th the effects should
be expected within a month. If the dreams are perceived right at the time of
sunrise, the effects occur on the same day. One who sees an evil dream would
better sleep again no matter is it the time of sunrise. One who sees a good
dream should not sleep again after he wakes up.
